LDS.net’s 2016 Photo Contest

The contest entry period is now over. Vote now here. The contest winner will receive $100.

LDS.net is proud to announce our 2016 photography contest.

Eligible photographers may submit up to twenty photographs for consideration through the form below before February 29, 2016. The contest winner will receive $100.

What Should Photos be Based on

The theme for this year’s contest is “How I feel the whispering of the Holy Ghost.”

We hope that this theme will inspire photographers while leaving them many options for originality. Feel free to explore subjects that are both unique to how you feel the Holy Ghost and common to many Latter-day Saints.

How Will a Winner be Chosen

The LDS.net editorial board will choose ten semi-finalists based on originality, technical excellence, composition, overall impact, artistic merit, and relevance to the theme.

Those ten semi-finalists will each be posted to LDS.net’s Facebook page on March 10th. At the end of the day March 13th, the four photos that received the most “likes” on Instagram will become finalists.

The four finalists will be posted on LDS.net’s Facebook page March 17th. The photo with the largest combined number of likes and shares at the end of the day March 20th is the winner.

Who Can Participate

Anyone can participate.

Children under eighteen-years-old require a parent or guardian’s permission to participate in the contest.

Photo Requirements

Photos that place the photographer or subject in danger will not be considered. Photos that contain sexually explicit, obscene or violent content will not be considered.

Photographers are required to have permission to photograph all included locations and people.

There is no limitation to post-production work on the photo.

Photos need to be submitted in a digital format such as .jpg, .png, .bmp, .gif or .tif.

While photos with any technical specifications will be considered, photos with at least 300 dpi and wider than one-thousand pixels will be given preference by the editorial board.

Your Rights

Photographers who submit photos to LDS.net’s photography contest continue to own the copyright of their photos.

By submitting their photo, photographers agree that they are the sole owner of the photograph and that LDS.net may now use the photo with or without attribution in any context.
