This week, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will release the feature length film, “Meet the Mormons,” in theaters across the United States. More than 500 invited guests had the opportunity to see the premiere of this movie last night in the Salt Lake City area.

Guests at the premiere included some of the Apostles for the Church and many famous Latter-day Saints. Former NBA star Shawn Bradley was in attendance yesterday evening and said the movie was not what he expected:

I was thoroughly impressed… You laughed, you cried. It was a movie that talked to me emotionally. It brought you into part of the story.

Elder Jeffrey R. Holland of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, also attended the premiere and took to social media to invite others to see the movie:

Elder David A. Bednar, also a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, told Mormon Newsroom:

I find it fun and edifying and it’s a remarkable experience to be here with so many people at this event on this night when they see it for the first time.

Former presidential candidate Mitt Romney, Neon Trees drummer Elaine Bradley, High School Musical star KayCee Stroh, pop singer David Archuleta, comedian Jenna Kim Jones, Imagine Dragon’s Dan Reynolds, and US Olympic team members Kate Hansen and Christopher Fogt were among some in attendance last night.

Many of these famous Mormons decided to help sweep social media “as with a flood” and tweet about their experience at the premiere. Check out the tweets below:

“Meet the Mormons” will play in more than 300 theaters across the United States starting Friday, October 10, 2014. Elder Holland describes the film as a way to increase people’s understanding of the Latter-day Saint faith, not as a means of proselyting.

Members are encouraged to attend the film and to share their honest reactions to the movie with friends on social media.
