Famous Mormons Use Street Performing to Help Homeless Man

When Stuart Edge, a filmmaker and member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, decided he wanted to use his talents to give back to others, he enlisted the help of several prominent musicians. Edge was joined by Kenzie Nimmo and Latter-day Saint artists Alex Boye and John Allred to pay it forward and help a Salt Lake City homeless man try to start over again.

The group of musicians went looking for someone whom they could help, and that is when they found Rodney, a man living on the streets of the city. They invited Rodney to participate in their street performance with hand percussion (clapping) and told him that he could split the tips with them.

Edge told Deseret News:

The goal was to find an honest homeless person that was on the street, and we would set up around him and start playing, and people would dump tips in our bucket, and we’d turn around and give it to him.

The band performed a medley of popular songs, arranged by Edge and Allred. The group drew a large crowd and Rodney was smiling the entire time. At the end of their performance, the musicians gifted Rodney all of the money that bystanders threw into the guitar case.
