Jackson 5 Meets Bach in New Piano Guys Music Video

Yesterday, the Piano Guys published a new video to YouTube in which the 1770’s collide with the 1970’s.

The video, called “I Want You Bach,” combines Jackson 5’s “I Want You Back” with five different songs composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. The Piano Guys enlisted the help of the Hale Center Theater in Utah to help make the mash-up come to life, complete with period costumes, props, and even the old-time instruments.

Every sound heard throughout the video comes from the instruments seen, even down to the words “I want you back.” Through the use of a talk box, cellosit Steven Nelson was able to make the allusion that someone is speaking the words. However, in reality the words are created by playing the cello through a speaker built into a foot pedal. The sound then travels through a tube to Nelson’s mouth where he can then form the notes to sound like words.

The Piano Guys utitlize only an electric cello, grand piano, harpsichord, Baroque cello, talk box, and kick drum to represent the music from two different centuries. Watch the video above.
