Tyler Glenn, the lead singer for Neon Trees, the band of such hits as “Everybody Talks,” and active Latter-day Saint, made waves in March when he announced he was gay. Since that time Glenn has faced criticism from some outside the Church who were upset he “maintained his level of faith” after the announcement.
In response to the confusion and questions, Glenn penned an editorial for The Guardian, a British national daily newspaper.
In the article, Glenn begins talking about juggling multiple identities, and his struggles. He then writes about the hundreds of men and women he’s heard from since March and writes, “As a proud gay Mormon man, I’ve received a lot of questions: How can you be Mormon and be gay?”
Glenn answers ” What I do know right now, is that I believe even more in the teachings of Jesus Christ. I pray more than ever, I love more than ever and I want to live more than I ever had before. I also know that I’ve never been so deeply happy in my entire life.”
Neon Trees is touring in the UK this weekend in support of their most recent album, Pop Psychology.
