Last night TLC premiered their new show, “Mormon Half Love.” The show is about Melinda Bird, a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and her journey to find love.

Melinda’s story is especially compelling because she was born with sacral agenesis, a birth defect that prevents the bottom half of the body from growing. Melinda’s parents were told that she wouldn’t make it past age 1, but now at age 41, she is a survivor that’s determined to find the man of her dreams.

TLC documents Melinda’s journey as she goes on four blind dates and travels to Huntington Beach, CA for a weekend with hundreds of other LDS single adults. Throughout her experiences, she becomes more comfortable with the idea of finding someone for her and even meets another woman with the same condition that is married.

Whitney studied Communications with an emphasis in Broadcast Journalism at BYU. She also served as Miss Utah 2009 and spent her year promoting Children's Miracle Network, fundraising for anti-bullying/suicide prevention programs, and speaking to mutual groups.
