A two-day Tri-State Regional Young Single Adult (YSA) conference kicks off in New York City this Saturday, September 20. The conference will feature keynote speakers Elaine S. Dalton as well as Tamu Smith and Zandra Vranes, from Sistas in Zion.

Dalton served as the General Young Women President for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 2008 – 2013. After the New York and New Jersey young adults enjoy a day of service projects and meals, Dalton will speak to those in attendance at a fireside the first night of the conference. The fireside starts at 7 p.m. and will end around 8:30 p.m. After her remarks, the young adults will have the opportunity to mingle and enjoy music at the dance held that evening.

The following day, the conference is scheduled to include Sacrament Meeting, starting at 1 p.m., lunch, and a closing fireside at 7 p.m. Smith and Vranes, founders of the popular blog, Sistas in Zion, will speak at this fireside.

These two women started the blog in hopes of keeping in contact and to create a place where their family and friends could converse about gospel related topics and openly share humorous stories of the Mormon culture. Their blog became so popular with people outside of their friends and family circle that the duo has taken their creative skills to a new level. Smith and Vrane now co-host a radio show, travel to speak to audiences, and have written their first book, Diary of Two Mad Black Mormons
