Mormon Channel: Aiding Children with HIV

788

In the 1980s, hundreds of Romanian children were infected with the HIV virus. Dan was one of those orphans, and has decided that it is his time to pay it forward.

“When Dan was 18 years old, he moved out of the hospital, but he continues to return regularly to take care of other patients,” Mormon Channel reported. “Though he is a hero to some, Dan is humble about his service.”

Ana Filip is a social worker who helps at the hospital where Dan was treated. She has been helping HIV-positive patients since the year 2000, and loves the opportunity she gets to work with amazing patients like Dan.

Dan, for us, is an example of a fighter,” Filip told Mormon Channel. “The story of his life starts with a tragedy—to be infected without blame and to be condemned by society. … He is an inspiration to all of us.”

Dan continues to inspire Romanian orphans as he works with Filip to help care for these children and give them the skills they need to one day pay it forward as he has done.

Dan told Mormon Channel,

My purpose, for me, is to help continuously like I myself was helped.
