With young missionaries flooding the field since President Thomas S. Monson’s age change announcement, Brigham Young University is responding with hosting its first annual Mission Ready Youth Conference this summer. Since the announcement, many youth fresh out of high school are eagerly entering the mission field, but not without some jitters. Since many of these new missionaries have never lived away from home, nervousness is expected. However, this week-long conference aims at helping these youth to feel mission ready, by focusing on doctrine, skills, and attributes needed to help prospective missionaries feel more confident about missionary work.

Returned missionaries will teach courses at the conference offering their advice and personal insight into representing the Savior as full-time servants of the Lord. Classes will be structured around familiarizing the 14-18 year olds with the scriptures, as well as Preach My Gospel. In addition to classes, fun activities, like concerts, service projects, games, and even a dance, will allow the youth to interact with one another pushing many of them outside of their comfort zone—something missionaries will experience frequently.

Registration opened on February 1, and will be held at BYU July 20-26, 2014. The conference website provides an overview of class topics that will be covered, a list of evening activities, reasons to attend, and a flowchart to help you decide if this conference is right for you.
