Dating back to World War II, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has provided a set of pocket-sized scriptures to those serving in the military. This military version of the scriptures has not been available for the general public to purchase until now. Although the Church has previously made a pocket sized edition of the book of Mormon available, people were still wanting to purchase a full set. Deseret News quotes Elder Larry R. Lawrence of the Seventy saying:

For years missionaries, mission presidents, Scouts, campers, youth, youth leaders, commuters and a variety of other members have been asking to purchase the pocket-sized military edition of the scriptures.

Now, anyone can purchase a set consisting of the Old and New Testament, Book of Mormon, Pearl of Great Price, and Doctrine and Covenants. This new set will be available with black covers that are more durable than the red military covers, and will also have rounded corners to prevent bent corners. The Book of Mormons will include color pictures and the first ever English printed Guide to the Scriptures.

Those who would like to purchase these books can do so online. Individuals can either buy the full set for $14.50, or each book separately for the following prices:

Old Testament – $5.50

New Testament – $3

Book of Mormon – $4

Doctrine and Covenants/Pearl of Great Price -$3
