ESPN recently included Brigham Young University in their list of the top 5 head-coaching jobs of Power 5 teams.

In order to pick the top 5 coaching jobs, ESPN looked at the following criteria: location, facilities, recruiting base, fervor of the fan base, administrative stability/support and tradition. They ranked BYU as one of the most desirable jobs due to its tradition and fanbase.

BYU draws in fans from all over the world, mainly due to its ties to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and tends to have one of the highest attendance numbers in the nation. Since Lavell Edwards Stadium expanded in 1982 to seat 65,000 fans, BYU consistently ranks in the top 25 for attendance.

Another draw to coaching at BYU is the variety of teams they get to play. This next season, BYU will travel to face Nebraska, UCLA, Michigan and Missouri. Under current head-coach Bronco Mendenhall, the football team has made it into ten consecutive bowl games.

Although BYU is currently Independent, athletic director Tom Holmoe expects that the Cougars will play as a Power 5 team very soon.

ESPN also ranked Boise State, Cincinnati, Houston and UCF among the top 5 coaching jobs. SMU, Colorado State and Marshall received honorable mentions.
