Photographer Captures Every US Temple for New Book

Member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Scott Jarvie, is on a mission to photograph every temple in the United States. After a successful Kickstarter campaign, Jarvie started last Fall on a cross country trek and has visited almost every temple. His last stops will include the temples in Alaska and Hawaii next month, according to the Deseret News. His work will be featured in the book, LDS Temple Book, and will be available for purchase at ldsbookstore.com in December.

Jarvie has been a photographer for about five years and felt that he needed to do something more than just landscapes and bridals. Then came the idea to do the LDS temples book.

I hope people get a book and they put it in a prominent place and look at it often. I hope to create a beautiful piece of art that inspires people and helps them remember a symbol of our religion.

In addition to his beautiful pictures, which presents the temples as being a “light on a hill,” stories of each temple will be included. He’s asked the public to contribute their stories, historical perspectives and essays for each temple.  All of the contributions will be posted on his website, but one for each temple will be included in the print book. He is still accepting submissions until the beginning of July.

You can check out his beautiful pictures of the temples in the slideshow above and see some of his other projects, like the Faith in America book he is making in connection with the LDS Temple Book, on his website, javiedigital.com.

What stories/experiences/memories do you have about the temples nearest to you?
