12 Steps to Change: Finding Joy Through 12th Recovery Step, Service

670

After overdosing on drugs and falling from the third story of a building, Erick realized it was time to take the steps toward drug addiction recovery.

In Mormon Channel’s video, Erick reveals that he had attended the 12 steps program sporadically before his fall, but found a new desire to consistently make the program a priority. Still recovering from addiction and his fall, Erick has put step 12, service, into action.

Now a mediator of one of the Church’s addiction recovery meetings, Erick says that step 12 allows him to reach out to others who are struggling and let them know that they do not have to go through their trials alone.

In the video, Erick says,

The 12 steps helped me focus on the fact that not only am I an addict, but I am a son of God. And it is so important that I share that knowledge because it was hard-won knowledge. And that is why it is so important for me to share this message with others through service.
