Church Releases New Easter Campaign, ‘Because He Lives’

1997

In its efforts to share the Gospel with the world, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has released a new Easter campaign. This year’s theme is “Because He Lives,” and the Church is encouraging members to share the message through social media.

The new initiative is centered on the idea that Christ lives and that we can find His help and comfort every day of our lives. Mormon.org features the video and a calendar of the Easter week, with an explanation of the events that took place each day. The site also encourages visitors to share their experiences of feeling Jesus’ love and influence in their lives, using the hashtag #BecauseHeLives.

Deseret News reports that the campaign also encourages people to share where they find the influence of Jesus Christ through printing out a graphic from Mormon.org. The graphic looks like a red pin drop that states “He is here.” The members are instructed take a picture of themselves with it and share it through their social media using the campaign’s hashtag.

Last year’s initiative, “Because of Him” included a video that was released in 20 languages. To date, 5.3 million people have viewed the video.
