LDS Charities, the humanitarian entity for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, released a series of six videos that detail their worldwide outreach efforts.

The first directed worldwide charitable outreach effort came in 1985 when Spencer W. Kimball, then president of the Church, asked North American members to fast for famine victims in Ethiopia. According to  Mormon Newsroom, the Church received about $6.4 million worth of donations from the special fast.

in 1990, President Thomas S. Monson stated,

We [members] have a responsibility to extend help as well as hope to the hungry, the homeless, and to the downtrodden both at home and abroad.
