Free educational lecture by Robert Millet, Professor of Religion at BYU (hosted by Shorline Stake) Saturday, December 3rd at 7pm at the LDS Montlake building.

I know some of you live in the Seattle area, and some of you are a fan of How Wide the Divide, and at least one of you fall under the overlap.

Dang, I wish I lived closer. I love Bro Millet. I've heard him speak at Ed Week at BYU and love his insights.
I say that we need to teach our people to find their answers in the scriptures...But the unfortunate thing is that so many of us are not reading the scriptures. We do not know what is in them, and therefore we speculate about things that we ought to have found in the scriptures themselves. I think that therein is one of our biggest dangers of today."
--President Harold B. Lee, December, 1972

I hope that chapel is a large one since you just invited people from all over the world to it.

Wish I lived there. I love Robert Millet.

Where are we going and why are we in this handbasket?

Arrgh...I'd love to go hear him...alas, I have a family-church function to attend. Let me know if they podcast it. :::sigh:::

He came to BYU Idaho and spoke about the bible. LOVED it. Wrote an entire paper on it :)

If it's any consolation I am almost through with Bridging the Divide, the book he co-authored with Rev. Greg Johnson. :-)

How is it?

Thought I'd try shooting my way out. Mix things up a little.

It is so very interesting to me, having followed there story for some time. However, for those interested in the main differences in doctrine, I'd suggest the earlier How Wide the Divide book, by Robinson & Blomberg.
