Another question: In one of the census it lists Anthony Pokswinski as a stepson to John and Mary Genis. Pokswinski is a new name to me. Is there a way to figure out if it is John or Mary who is the birth parent? Everything I am finding so far just lists him as a stepson. Thanks.

You need to find his birth certificate? How far back is this?

It's probably the stepson of the head of household, which is traditionally the husband. Not having the same surname as the male head of household also suggests that he is the son of the female head of household.

If we're going to be stupid about this, we're going to be stupid on my terms. -- my husband
