What’s the last movie you watched?

The last movie I watched was Oscar a couple of weeks ago. This movie stars Sylvester Stallone and is the story of a gangster named Snaps Provolone who tells his dying father that he will give up his life of crime and what happens on the day he attempts to do that. It’s hilarious! Apparently it’s based on a stage play. The hubby and I like to watch this one every once in a while. It’s the first movie that pops into my head with a male character named Connie. Here’s one of my favorite exchanges during the movie:

Connie: Even in the old days he was known as an honest crook.

Dr. Thornton Poole: That's an oxymoron.

Connie: Gee, you shouldn't oughta said that, Doc.

Snaps: Yeah, leave Connie alone. He does the best he can.

Also stars Tim Curry as Dr. Poole, the elocution teacher. It is rated PG.

So what’s the last movie you saw whether in the theatre or elsewhere? What is it about? Who are the actors/actresses? What’s it rated? Did you like it? Any favorite quotes or other things you’d like to share?

Skyfall. Amazingly stupid and offensive movie, a complete waste of time (and that's being generous). Reminded me of many of the reasons I hate Bond movies. Not snappy, not clever, lots of really eye-rolling (or stomach-turning) sex. Oh, yes, and now Bond, the quintessential heterosexual scumbag, has hinted that he's an equal-opportunity scumbag with homosex experience, as well. I don't remember the last time I saw a movie with such uniformly uninteresting, unsympathetic characters. The only mildly sympathetic character in the entire movie was, predictably, shot through the head. I can think of literally no redeeming feature of the movie.

I keep swearing I will never waste my time watching another Bond, and I keep lying. But I might actually be telling the truth now. After Skyfall, I honestly see no reason to watch another Bond, ever.

One word: Astin Martin DB5

Hmm. I had liked Skyfall. The next time I see it I'll hate it now. Thanks a lot! ;)

We just finished watching Galaxy Quest. I love that movie.

"Let's go, before those things kill Guy!"

We watched Galaxy Quest several years back during the same time period we watched Mystery Men, probably within a week of each other. Very different movies, but both are sci-fi spoofs and both are quite funny, so I associate them with each other. I'm no Janeane Garofalo fan, but her character was great.

That movie is hilarious!

I went and saw The Host today.

How was it, pam? Was it pretty different than the book?

And I am jealous! Actually glad you went and you can tell us if they messed it up or not!

I thought it was pretty good and they kept it pretty true to the book. Not as much detail of course in the movie, but still enough to understand. My son liked it and he hadn't read the book. And I even teared up at the end.

Why don't you tell us how you really feel?

Last movie I watched was The Perks of Being a Wallflower.

The last movie I watched in the theatre was Django Unchained. It is a Quentin Tarantino movie. "With the help of a German bounty hunter, a freed slave sets out to rescue his wife from a brutal Mississippi plantation owner." The bounty hunter is played by Christoph Waltz who won the Oscar for best supporting actor (which he definitely deserved), the freed slave was Jamie Foxx and the plantation owner was Leonardo DiCaprio. It was a typical Tarantino movie with the overly dramatized gory scenes, some of which I could watch and other parts I got through with the help of covering my eyes and plugging my ears but there was one horrific scene that lasted way too long. The movie had these horrific parts but it was also quite funny. Tarantino even played a minor part as a mining company employee with a terrible accent. :) Overall I liked the movie. I would recommend it, but caution potential viewers about the blood and gore. If you're a Tarantino fan you will probably like it.

I just wanted to add that when the credits started rolling the first thing you read in large font was No horses were harmed in the making of this film. I have to say that that's a first; those statements are usually left at the end of the credits in small font.

The movie sounded interesting but I will never support a movie that has Jamie Foxx in it.

In the past, I would take opening day of Bond movies off and go watch it. That's how much of a Bond fan I used to be.

I saw the first one with Daniel Craig (Casino Royale)and have not watched any more at all. The franchise died when they did the re-boot.

Bought the DVD of the Hobbit and watched it for the first time last weekend. As a fan of the book, I was not impressed. First half hour was very close to the book, then it took off into uncharted territory
