Exercising on sunday

How about this?

Here are some general guides to help you to determine what you should do:

Is the activity work? (as in a job of commerce, rather than effort)

Does it bring you closer to God?

Does it distract from being closer to God?

Does it strengthen your relationship with close friends and relatives?

Will the activity take time away from family and relatives?

Is it good?

Is the activity for the good of others?

Ask yourself these questions. A single yes or no on any particular question doesn't mean you should or shouldn't do an activity.

I don't think there's one right or wrong answer for this. But I do like the guideline that if the activity takes you away from the Lord, it probably isn't one to do on Sunday. I think one can exercise, or pull a shift at work, if he or she is able to feel the spirit.

Sunday, I think that is a personal decision between you and the Lord.

The way I understood you though--you need to stretch for your bad back...I see that as kind of the same level as eating.  We don't fast every Sunday.  :)  I think stretching your back with or without listening to Conference is fine.  Personally, I wouldn't be comfortable with doing aerobics, or jogging on the Sabbath (with or without Conference) but that doesn't seem to be what you are talking about here.

Again, it is between you and the Lord.

My husband don't skip Sundays when it comes to exercise.  He takes "my body is a temple" seriously and if he feels what his body needs on Sunday is rest, then he rests.  If he feels his physical well-being will be affected if he doesn't exercise that Sunday, he exercises.  He has 2 herniated discs on his back....

I think that it is okay to do stretching excercises on Sunday, bad back, if one is also listening to general conference. Comments?

I am familiar with needing to do stretching exercises for your back. If you have back issues and the exercises help your back then I can't see why these exercises are not a good idea, even on a Sunday. It's like asking if walking or breathing is okay on a Sunday. Like someone mentioned, your body is a temple. Do whatever you need to do to keep it working properly.

Not to make light of your question, but in the grand eternal scheme of things will doing stretches on Sunday have a negative affect on out salvation?
