Hey guys! I'm new here and rediscovering faith. I was born and raised an atheist until I converted to Catholicism when I was 17 (on my own to the surprise of my parents). Went back to atheism when I was 23, and now at the age of 26 I'm trying to discover faith again. Met some lovely neighbors next door who are Mormons and have asked them questions about their faith, and wanted to explore it more which is why I'm here.

Who was born and raised an atheist? The devil has told you? Or the RKK...?  (For me it means the same)  smiley-eatdrink062.gif

And how can someone "convert" as long as he has not belonged to the Christian faith? Bloody nonsense. That stupid and devlish Cathlic offence makes me upset. You're a lier. You're a lier and you're offending God. I'm spitting on you.

Welcome Akrunner. This can be a good place to start your exploration, but you might need to be a bit selective. Some of the discussions here can run off in all sorts of unexpected directions. Additionally, some of the comments made here are more a reflection on the writers' views, opinions and interpretations of LDS doctrines, practices and beliefs, rather than the actual doctrines and practices. This is a great site and there is a lot of great stuff here, provided by good, well intentioned, thoughtful and articulate people, but I don't believe it has been set up primarily as a site to aid those who are commencing their initial exploration of the LDS church. I think the best place for that is http://www.mormon.org/what-do-mormons-believe. In particular, you might want to look at the chat option at the top right corner of the mormon.org page. That will give you real time access to a real person who will do their best to answer whatever query you have in a safe, one-on-one context.

Hello and welcome! It sounds like you've had quite a journey so far and I wish you the very best in your continuing search for faith and fulfillment. I've been LDS my whole life, but there have been times when I've considered what my life might be like without religion. While I think I could maybe get by okay from day to day the difficult part would be understanding things like death and the purpose of life. I believe the LDS church has the answers to the most important questions in life and provides a system of beliefs and guidance about day to day living that can lead to happiness and fulfillment beyond what is offered by other churches or the pursuit of career success and material possessions. If you have questions, we're here to help!
