Service Opportunity

I am nearing retirement and am looking for an opportunity to provide more service.  I currently serve as an ordinance worker in one of the temples which I enjoy very much.  I would like to spend more time serving in the temple.

I know that our temple has several unpaid assistant recorders that are volunteers.  I was thinking of discussing this possibility with one of the temple presidency.  I'm wondering if this would be viewed similarly to letting them know you would like to be an ordinance worker OR would it be akin to telling the stake president that you would like to be the Bishop of your ward.

Anyone have any knowledge or experience here?

I am concerned and wondering why you would think to bring this question to this forum rather than to those you work with at the temple?  This thread just does not seem to be the best course of action.

asking isn't wrong its what you do with the answers you get. personally I don't see anything wrong in asking or letting the bishop know. But like has been said, if you don't get called or whatnot don't worry about it or hold a grudge.

I would also suggest to pray to God, to both know if this is what is for you and also for him to inspire the leaders you would have to go through. Fasting also helps.

to traveller, to answer your question it's easier to be anonymous on the web, than having to face someone in person- especially if you have any fears whatsoever (unfounded or not) that asking a question will result in a rebuke of some sort or another. coming to a forum like this one can be a test of the waters, so to speak.

Some temples even have volunteers slips in the locker rooms.

I don't think there's anything wrong with letting your local leader know you have time to serve in the temple. On the other hand, putting conditions on. how you are willing to serve there ("I will *only* serve at the recommend desk/in the locker room/etc") might be a bit much. :)
