Kate Kelly, ashamed, openly admits the Church's actions have actually helped her

No where in the article does she say she's ashamed.

But she does say this:

"...Out of this experience, I've realized that men don't get to control my happiness. I've come out on the other end, (where) I think I'm much happier, much more authentic, a much more invigorated person."

Good for her. Happiness is underrated. So many people seem to enjoy being miserable and grumpy all the time.

What this has to do with her views towards female ordination is yet to be determined

I don't follow her but I hope she's able to be at peace. I don't have much interest in the loudest bark (from either side) but I can appreciate someone's genuine conviction of a belief. I'll stick to my guns and you'll stick to yours.

Does this mean you are okay with guns in public places now?

:D

Upon thinking about it further I'm not sure Kate Kelly is ashamed. In the immortal words of Christopher Hitchens, "it's always interesting when someone never feels any shame or guilt, and it's never a good sign"

Her husband is so ashamed he left the church when the Church denied her petition for reconsideration.

Her husband wrote in a letter that he was ashamed of her Stake President and Bishop but I doubt you could provide any source where he is ashamed of himself or his wife.

He probably isn't ashamed of her, and that's good for him. I want their marriage to last forever. God bless them.

What I truly, truly don't understand (yup, I'm just not bright enough to get it) is why some people want to change the church. It's not like the church hides the fact that they don't accept female ordination. It's not Kate Kellys choice. She doesn't run the church. Instead of being selfish and forcing the church to change, why not find another church that accepts your views? In fact, the Community of Christ accepts female ordination and views the Book of Mormon as scripture. Why not join them?

And I don't care about female ordination in  the least. Totally agnostic about it. If it happens great, if not great. I have absolutely no interest in the issue. However, I admit it's easy for me to say that, as someone who was born a man. If I was a woman I'd probably find it troubling, but I'm still not sure I'd leave the church over it.

I never said he was ashamed of her or of himself.  I was being sarcastic in that his wife's petition gets denied so he leaves the church.

I'm a woman and I feel strongly against female ordination. If the church ever starts ordaining women (Catholic or Mormon), I would be very troubled but I don't think I'll leave the LDS church over it or think badly of the Catholic church.

I technically have no issue with female ordination, but I don't waste time thinking about it. To tangentially pick at the thread about the Bloggernacle, I think of Feminist Mormon Housewives. I know some people just love that blog, but I didn't read it very much because if you didn't weep in the temple over injustice toward females or cry over your lack of priesthood ordination, you were shunned. Probably my beginning of my distaste of the Bloggernacle.
