Surface Book and other MS brilliance

I'm having fits and palpitations and all sort of distracting can't-sit-still sorts of reactions over Microsoft's newly announced Surface Book.

Oh my goodness, oh my goodness, oh my goodness!!

Burn Apple, burn! Die a slow painful death you egotistical socialist! Mwah-hahahHA!!

.......

Of course then I look at the price and have another kind of fit entirely.

On a side note: The Lumia phones are pretty cool. (http://www.cnet.com/products/microsoft-lumia-950-xl/) Can be used as a computer replacement for most people I expect. Just get a monitor and...boom...you have all you need. Office, email, internet...but with a full monitor, mouse and keyboard Then you grab your phone and take it all with you. For me, it's not quite there yet, because they won't run full x86 software yet. But I expect that's not far behind. That, to me, it the real future. Full computers in your back pocket. And by "full", I mean FULL!

Microsoft is pushing all the right buttons right now by my count. It will be interesting to see how they do in the market with this brilliance.

I've watched some of the video you've posted and the new Surface does look nice. After looking at the price though, for that I could get a new Chromebook Pixel-if it were available in my country. The Surface -is- very modern and up-to-date, but the Pixel has a more traditional look that's a little more appealing to me. All the best to MS though, hope these products are successful.

I used to be an Apple fan-but it now makes me chuckle that I can get the much criticised Vista GUI to perform just as responsively as the OSX Yosemite in the last Mac I bought (a 2008 Mac Pro). And I can play Unreal Tournament GOTY on it too :)

As for the new phones, it's hard for me to judge. My little Samsung Evergreen seems to work just fine, and those things seem awful, well, big to me. Perhaps in the future; my choice certainly won't be an iPhone, I know that.

The chrome book pixel looks nice, but if it had what the Surface Book has, I expect it would be just as expensive. The primary differences I see are the resolution, SSD size, and the ability to use the freaking thing as a tablet!! :)

There may be other differences, of course. But even these three things are major differences. It's the tablet too thing that makes this exciting to me. Powerful laptops are plentiful.

Oh...one other major difference. I'm not going to pay that kind of money for a system that will only run google apps. That, to me, would be the straight up definition of madness. I want a full operating system that seamlessly converts to a tablet when needed. Hello Windows 10.

Yes, the Surface is definitely something that goes beyond a laptop. I haven't sprung for tablet, or laptop or any kind of mobile computer yet. Liking Windows 10 but guess I'm still basically a desktop guy. Are you a Windows phone user yourself? The only place I see them is in the occasional movie-ie the latest Mission Impossible. But I don't get out much :)

Currently a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 user. Probably won't switch yet either. Not because I don't want to. But because I'm probably going to stick with this phone until it's truly obsolete. It's a great phone and I'm happy with it. If they'd had Win 10, these new phones, etc., when I was switching before a few years back, yeah...would have gone Windows. Prior to Win 10, it wasn't quite there though.
