    Coke

I was never taught that cola drinks were wrong. My dad drank Pepsi. My mom drank Coke. My paternal grandparents drank Tab. I drink Diet Dr. Pepper. OTH one of my best friends growing up wasn't aloud to drink any of those. When I went to girls camp I always took Dr. Pepper with me. The relief society president came up once and brought a cooler of Diet Coke. I think it is simply something that individuals need to decide for themselves.
  2. I came here almost a year ago because I wanted to get other's perspectives on the church. I already belonged to a women's forum and wanted to get a male POV too. I mostly lurk here posting occasionally, I really don't have too much to add to the gospel discussions but I have posted in the General section a few times. I am not active LDS and when I came here I wanted to reactivate but now am unsure about that. Anyway, I usually enjoy this forum because it is very respectful to the nonmembers who post here. Since my dh and a few of my aunts, uncles and cousins aren't members, how we treat nonmembers is very important to me.
  3. Thank you for acknowledging that, tngu. I know extremely happy people who have left the LDS church, and happy people who are currently LDS. You're welcome! I guess I know where you are coming from a little because I always get the "You're marriage can't possible be happy because you didn't marry within the church" which I get is a whole other topic. I also know so many people of other faiths who have very happy lives, either that or they are just really good actors!! I have also been having a lot of questions about whether I want to stay LDS myself, I think I might be a little to liberal for this church but having said that I am very happy with the way my life is right now. Not everyone who leaves the church is doing it to go live tawdry lives and sin sin sin. Okay now I am way off topic. Sorry for the hijack!!!
  4. I have also known people who left the church who seem a lot happier to me but I have also seen the opposite. I think it's all about living the way God would want you too regardless of your religious affilitation. You can be just as happy being any other religion as you can being LDS. I have a husband who proves that! I have never known anyone exed, but I have a family member who was disfellowshiped once. He is back to full activity now so it all worked out!
  5. I would love to visit Cameroon where my dh is from and finally meet my mother and father in law. I would also like to visit Ireland and see where some of my ancestors are from, and I would also love to go to Egypt, France, Italy, England, and Australia.
  6. I know I am coming to this late but I haven't had a computer in a month. Anyway my favorites are: Friends reruns Desperate Housewives Lost Extreme Makeover: Home Edition Celebrity Poker Showdown Gilmore Girls My Name is Earl Everybody Hates Chris (actually I just started watching the last two) American Idol: I so wanted Chris to win, blech on Taylor! Foodnetwork shows Househunters on HGTV Ghost Whisperer America's Most Wanted E.R.
  7. I loved this book!! I don't want to write a book report though. It's just something that you have to read!! I can't wait to see the movie!!
  8. I guess I am in the minority because I would have no problem letting my daughters be girl scouts. I enjoyed it when I was growing up. I made a lot of friends and had a lot of fun and learned a lot of useful information. I think it would help teach my girls self confidence and if they learned to be nice to lesbians and to have a little bit of feminism in the process, I would be fine with that. I rarely get involved in debates on this forum because I am not a good debater, so this will probably be the last thing I have to say on this topic. For some reason I just wanted to put in my 2 cents. Call it temporary insanity.
  9. I wasted my time!! Best Picture: Crash Best Director: Ang Lee for Brokeback Mountain Best Actress: Reese Witherspoon for Walk the Line Best Actor: Philip Seymour Hoffman for Capote Best Supporting Actress: Rachel Weisz for The Constant Gardener Best Supporting Actor: George Clooney for Syriana To me those are the main ones. If you want to check out more go to www.imdb.com
  10. I saw myself in both the liberal and moderate choices.
  11. The one that sounds most like me is caffeinated mormon. I am actually democrat, I am a woman so no facial hair, I always wanted a belly ring, but I was afraid it would hurt, I can always be found drinking Diet Dr. Pepper, I think Tiramisu(Sp) is yummy and I do have some fun lingirie. I am inactive though so I guess that matches the paper mormon. I guess I am a mix of both.
  12. You scored as Christianity. Your views are most similar to those of Christianity. Do more research on Christianity and possibly consider being baptized and accepting Jesus, if you aren't already Christian. Christianity is the second of the Abrahamic faiths; it follows Judaism and is followed by Islam. It differs in its belief of Jesus, as not a prophet nor historical figure, but as God in human form. The Holy Trinity is the concept that God takes three forms: the Father, the Son (Jesus), and the Holy Ghost (sometimes called Holy Spirit). Jesus taught the idea of instead of seeking revenge, one should love his or her neighbors and enemies. Christians believe that Jesus died on the cross to save humankind and forgive people's sins. Christianity 58% agnosticism 58% Buddhism 50% Islam 46% Judaism 46% Satanism 42% Paganism 38% Hinduism 17% atheism 8%

  14. I used to eat a lot of junk food, but lately it just hasn't appealed to me. However, I still love Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, Nacho Cheese Doritos, Caramel Hershey's Kisses, Pizza w/ mushrooms and xtra cheese, and wash it all down with a DIET(Hehe) Dr. Pepper. With the exception of the diet drpepper, I haven't had any of the other stuff in awhile. When I do eat junk food, it will be one of those things.
