  1. The spirit can be felt strongly when watching this DVD. The messages of the members of the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve are moving and beautifully expressed. This is a great video for members and non members alike and will have a lasting impact on anyone who watches it. It is powerful. This DVD features members of the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve declaring their personal witness of Jesus Christ. Filmed in such locations as Jerusalem, the Sacred Grove, and Nauvoo. This was filmed prior to the calling of Elder Uchtdorf and Elder Bednar.
  2. Faced with the decision of a lifetime Arvilla Holden (Jessica Lange) hijacks her two best friends (Kathy Bates Joan Allen) and sets off in a vintage '66 Bonneville convertible across the great American West to deliver her husbands ashes to her step-daughter. What begins as a simple trip will end up becoming a chance to rediscover themselves their friendship the importance of promises - and of living life to the fullest. Bonneville could be deemed a chick flick probably likened to a Mormon version of 'Thelma and Louise". This is a great movie for women - full of spontaneity and compassion. It shows a unique side of the mature and wise women of the senior world. All played by well known actresses and actors, Kathy Bates did a marvelous job playing Margene. They could not have found a better actress for that character.
  3. A drama based on actual events follows the life of Samuel Hunter whose faith is challenged when he joins the LDS church for the woman he loves and follows her along the ill-fated journey of the Martin Handcart Company in 1856. The trek of the Martin Handcart Company to the Salt Lake valley is historically known as one of the most tragic LDS events. Over 150 men, women and children died of cold and starvation. The handcart company left too late in the season in Nebraska, only to encounter a very cold and early Wyoming winter. The movie portrays how the saints had to rely on Heavenly Father with a surety and complete faith through the cold winter storms. This trial built the saint's testimony and faith so that they could have the ability to begin to build His church. We can see in our own lives that after the storms we go through, the struggle was a storm of perfection strengthening us and preparing a way for us.
  4. We do not have this framed, but it is thought and spoken often. Love, kindness and respect.
  5. Sons of provo was intertaining.... both the DVD and the soundtrack! Bought the audio CD a few years ago... listened to it often and played it for just about everyone I knew. Watched the movie a few months ago, and then had an AH HA moment! That CD I had bought was the soundtrack to the sons of provo movie. Don't know how I missed that one! I guess I never really looked at the CD cover... just opened it up and played the heck outta it! :)
  6. Hoops This was a really good short film (22 minutes) that our family enjoyed watching for Family Home Evening. The message delivered was profound... when finding the truth out for yourself, sometimes it is necessary to feel with your heart and listen to what the spirit is telling you rather than thinking things out and using your mind. The out takes were hilarious due to the sense of humor that Kirby has. Michael (Michael Birkeland, The Singles Ward) and Ethan (Kirby Heyborne, The RM) are not only brothers, they're also best friends. Every Saturday Michael and Ethan play a game of basketball. Shooting hoops has always been their way of bonding. Through numerous games, both Michael and Ethan discover what it means to be a friend, the importance of the Gospel, and the blessing of serving a mission.
  7. Passage To Zarahemla Passage to Zarahemla is a full length movie rated PG-13. The movie was full of adventure, and I'd suspect those of you who like Indiana Jones-type movies would enjoy this movie as well. The movie may take you back to your childhood when all the neighborhood kids would play cowboys and Indians. The director and producer did a great job, and the actors as well. I found the movie to be surprisingly believable... I caught our son pretending (??? lets hope!) to have found a passageway in our backyard which is heavily wooded. The movie is about orphans on the run--Kerra and Brock McConnell--who seek help from LDS relatives in the small town of Leeds, Utah. Join Kerra as she discovers mind-bending mysteries in the nearby woods where a passageway exists to the jungled world of the Book of Mormon in 19 AD.
  8. A few weeks ago was our eight-year-old son Justin's "Field Day" at school, where the students have a full day outside playing team games. Parents were welcome to attend. We had fun. Boy was I tired when we got home. But Justin kept on going... presumably also due to the excitement of the school year coming to an end. Later that evening in the car, his dad inquired about field day at school. Justin was still full speed ahead and was more than happy to tell about the days events, talking at auctioneer speed along with the hand, arm and body motions of a kid who was excited and had a lot to tell. Suddenly there was silence in the car. A quick look in the rear view mirror revealed Justin was reading the back of the sunscreen lotion bottle. We delighted in the silence for just a moment. Then with enthusiasm, Justin blurted out from the back seat, "Ahhhh ha! I know why I am so hyper! They put ACTIVE ingredients in this sunscreen!"
  9. I don't know either if there is going to be a 4th or not. I'm waiting though! :) The third ended whereas it left the veiwer with the anticipation of a 4th. That would be too sad if they didn't continue.
  10. There are three so far in the series. I can't wait for a 4th!!! The Work and the Glory: Pillar of Light The Work and the Glory II: American Zion The Work and the Glory III: A House Divided I have come to better know Joseph Smith through these movies and in doing so my testimony of him has grown significantly.
  11. A look behind the scenes... this was interesting to me, as it was filmed in our neck of the woods. :) The screenplay was written by Matt Whitaker. He began working on “The Work and the Glory: American Zion” and “A House Divided” in November of 2004. It took four weeks to write a first draft, then another five months for the revisions. When filming the scenes with horses and wagons, there was always a trained wrangler ready to step in and take control of the reins if the horses got out of control. Film was shot in Nashville, and in areas around the Smoky Mountains. The entire set was built just for The Work and The Glory films. The property was leased to the filmmakers by a Tennessee resident. The set is still standing, and the owner loves to take evening walks through the set grounds. The film was made during the hot summer months in Tennessee. The actors were dressed in heavy wool clothes of the times despite the 100 degree weather.

  13. I see that BYU radio has broadcasted the fullness of time in episodes. Not certain if they are available on CD, as I have yet to locate a CD of the episodes. Perhaps contact BYU radio? Doing a google search for any of the movies I have reviewed will usually result in a place where you may purchase or rent the DVD.
  14. Can you tell us more about the CD you are looking for? Is it an audio CD or computer CD... or actually a DVD? A quick search revealed two audio CDs.... One by Grady Nichols and one by Redemption. The one by Redemption titled "The Fullness of Time" is a progressive metal album
  15. Saints and Soldiers is also really good! Saints and Soldiers is a full length movie, while Saints at War tells of many different stories. The story of Saints and Soldiers focuses on what member Over43 recounts from Saints at War. Both are amazing films. Saints and Soldiers "Saints and Soldiers" is a dramatic, intense and heroic WWII film about members of the Greatest Generation struggling to be both good men and good soldiers. In-mid December 1944, while Hitler's Army blitzkriegs through the Ardennes Forest in Belgium. American sharpshooter Corporal Nathan Greer, known as Deacon, finds himself held captive with over one hundred other American Soldiers in a snow covered-field. As panic and confusion ensue the German soldiers open fire on the American Prisoners, in the historical event now known as the Malmedy Massacre. Greer, his friend Gordon Gunderson and a handful of others escape the massacre by hiding in the nearby woods. The small band of soldiers come across a stranded British intelligence officer with valuable information to be delivered to the Allied forces, further upping the stakes of their already dangerous situation. With few weapons, no food and strained camaraderie, this tiny band must take on the unforgiving winter to fight their way back to Allied occupied territory.
