  1. I am sure something will always hear it. Unless only humans matter....
  2. hmmmmm.......Is Nephi not referring to the Celestial kingdom rather than spirit paradice? I think so, simply because he is equating the ressurection with paradise, which obviously is not spirit paradice. I know that in spirit prison the veil still exists and I assume that spirit paradice will be the same.
  3. Why does hearing it require it to be a sound? www.dictionary.com "Vibrations transmitted through an elastic solid or a liquid or gas, with frequencies in the approximate range of 20 to 20,000 hertz, capable of being detected by human organs of hearing." Notice that it has to be capable, but not actually heard to be considered a sound. Do the senses have to setect something before it is a reality? Does something not exist if one cannot see it?
  4. I had a companion from Northern Ireland who told me his chapel was burnt down because someone thought it was catholic. Why they would think that I do not know. I am convinced that the most hate people exercise, the more stupid they become.
  5. Very interesting. I am not trying to argue this point, but to merely add additional insight, just insight, because I really have no clue of the reality of the situation. To those who inheret the highest realm of Celestial glory, they are promised Worlds without end, one will assume that this process will continue and that there will be more and more new Gods to make new 'worlds without end'. If there is a continual increase of Gods making new worlds, and a finite amount of matter, however large, then one can assume a few possibilities: 1) The amount of matter will eventally run out 2) Old worlds are recycled into new ones (Unless of course when a world is done it will be renewed to its paradicisial glory forever) 3) There is really a "worlds cap" and that "without number" is just describing a huge number that we cannot comprehend. I am sure there are more possibilities, but those are the ones that immediately come to my mind. Also, does HF really have control of ALL matter? What about other gods? That also begs the question, does HF really know everything? What about the thoughts of other gods?
  6. Well if it were purely for legal reasons, maybe the church can take its billions and go to africa.
  7. Or the "Can God make a rock so large that even he cannot lift it?" I think that this one is far more intellegent. My answer is that the said 'rock' would have to have an infinite mass, and would implode the universe with its infinite gravitaional pull. God loves us all too much to do that.
  8. This is my take. It does make a sound. I don't think that a "sound" is not a sound if no one hears it. basically a sound a vibration, the tree would make a vibration for sure, and therefore a sound. How did such a "riddle" make it though the ages? Perhaps I don't get it and am just stupid.
  9. It seems like people can not let stuff go. I wonder what kind of reaction they would get from a show like: "Father Jim: The loveable priest that just can't stop loving" There would be a mob for sure.
  10. Regarding the legality of Polygamy: It is illegal is most places, not all. The former soviet republic of Tajikistan is one that I can think of. I have read a lot about what has been said, but would still like to put in my opinion. I think that having a single wife is the ldeal, just like peace(as opposed to war, not the wife :-) ) is the ideal. However, there are circumstances where it does not work so well, and exceptions have to be made. I am sure that one can debte exactly what circumstances are allowed for days. I am sure it would be uncomfortable to do it. I know I would be, I would see it as a sacrafice. Just like going to war would be a sacrafice.
  11. Coloured shirt? Led Zepplin? Non-alcoholic beer? That's liable for a lynching behind the "Zion Curtain" (p.s. jk)
  12. Thank you so much for your well wishes. I have had a great Birthday. You are all so nice! Thanks for making me feel welcome! P.S. Jacket Potatoes would be great!

    Spanking

As I child I prefered spanking to other forms of punishment. Simply because spanking was quick. It sucked when I got spanked AND given chores to do though. I think that spanking is ok in rare circumstances with certain children. When I mean rare, I really mean it, like a handfull of times in a childhood. ex. If I child gets so wound up that he/she cannot properly communicate or receive communication, and is being excessively violent to the point where they are a danger to themselves. They might need a spanking. I feel in times like these a good swat, not overly hard, can shock them into reality. Obviously, this will not always work and depends on the child. Again, if it is not rare, then they get used to it, and it is less effective.
  14. First of all, I will be the first to admit that this thread is probably better and more inclusive than the one I started. I sometimes forget there this is not an all Mormon forum. I think I am 60% Conservative and 40% Moderate. (From an LDS viewpoint) I think that there are many things that are solid doctrine and should not be considered "moderate", such as Chastity. But I think that there is a pretty large "grey area" in the gospel that members should interpret for themselves. One "classic" example (pardon the pun ) is Coca-Cola. That is a pretty divided issue in the LDS church, and as far as I am concerned, it is a personal choice; and in my opinion is fine, in moderation. I find many LDS quirks amoungst members, as well as other Christians. I don't care if people have them, as long as they don't be openly judgemental of me, and try to "convert" me I am fine with it. I don't think that everything a general authority says is the personal opinion of Jesus Christ, or stuff like taking the sacrament with your left hand is a very big deal.
  15. What about the "I don't need to wait for the judgement, I have it all figured out", or "All 12 of my kids are insanely loud but I don't seem to notice", the list goes on.
