  1. For years I have struggled with social anxiety. Whenever I go to church, the problem seems to get worse. As a result, I don't have any desire to serve in any callings. I know we are not supposed to turn down a calling, and I feel like I am turning down the Lord. When I do accept a calling, I seem to sabotage it simply by not doing it. For example, I was recently called into the Young Men's as a Teacher's Quorum adviser. I was fine with this calling because I didn't have to teach or organize mutual activities. However, the stake split our ward and the Teacher's Quorum leader was moved to another ward, and everything has fallen upon me. Consequently, I have missed the last two Sunday's and mutual nights. I truly believe that it's not possible for me to make it to the Celestial kingdom because I don't measure up to LDS people. Why even bother. I am even contemplating suicide because I know the Lord doesn't love me. Help!
  2. If you read in 1 John 2:18-22 it states: 18 Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time. 19 They wend out from us, but they wee not of us; for if they had been of us they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they wee not all of us. 20 But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things. 21 I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth. 22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the son The term "Antichrist" is prevalent in the Scriptures. Antichrist is any individual, group, philosophy or ideology, or nation that oppose Jesus Christ. There have been many antichrists throughout history. For example, Sherem, Nehor, Korihor, and Zoram were antichrists in the Book of Mormon. Many Christian denominations believe that there will be one man who rules the world under the guise of peace. When in fact, this individual actually is in league with the devil and will want to destroy the souls men. There are political groups, not only in the U.S. but throughout the world, that are calling for a New World Order; where a global government controls everything from religion to a single world currency. In fact, some of the globalization groups are calling for a one world religion. These philosophies go against everything our Lord and Savior stand for. These philosophies and ideologies take away our free-agency, which an eternal gift the our Heavenly Father has given us. These philosophies are based upon the same plan Lucifer presented to the Father in the preexistence, which was that we wouldn't have our free-agency to choose to return to heaven. It would be forced upon us and Lucifer would gain all of the glory. Of course, this plan was rejected (thank goodness). A new world order is very possible in the near future, but you must not have any fear. If and when we lose our freedom in this country, this will be the time our Church leaders will call for the gathering of the Saints to Missouri to build the New Jerusalem, which is called Zion. Zion will be protected by the Lord. This promise is found in Doctrine and Covenants, Section 45, Verses 62-71.
  3. Welcome to the forum. I am so happy that you are finally going to experience the temple.
  4. I don't mean to freak you out. While it is true that many of the signs of the last days are terrible, we need to look at these signs with hopeful anticipation that our Lord and Savior will be returning soon. The Lord's purpose for the signs is so this his people will recognize his soon to be arrival. To quote John Taylor, George Q. Cannon, and Joseph F. Smith from the Epistle of the First Presidency: The lesson which the signs of the times should teach us is one of patience, endurance, and calm reliance on the Lord. The result will be that we shall be stronger, wiser, purer, happioer, for the experience gained, and the work of the Lord . . . will yet triumph gloriously over all its foes, and the infinite atonement of the Redeemer will accomplish its perfect work. The final victory of the Saints is certain; after the trial comes the reward. (p. 301) Many of the signs are out of our control. All we can do is live the best we can and to have faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
  5. I'm going to leave that one for the Lord to judge.
  6. Dear Kim5797, My heart goes out to you. We all do things that we are not proud of. My advice to you is to repent of this transgression and put it behind you as soon as possible. The sooner you do, the better you will feel and you will begin to enjoy life and the church again. Believe me...I know. About a year ago I was not living the way I should and was extremely hesitant to speak with my bishop about my issues. I was afraid to speak with the bishop because I thought that he might judge me. Finally one day, I decided to speak with my bishop. Of course, I was extremely nervous to speak with him. Just before I stepped into his office I was shaky and butterflies were churning in my stomach. I silently prayed for strength and the spirit helped me to calm down. But what surprised me even more was my bishops reaction when I confessed my sins. There was not judgment in his eyes, only love and compassion. He seemed to understand all that I was going through. After the meeting, I had a feeling of peace come over me that I haven't ever felt before. I felt the spirit again and felt more confidence in myself. To quote Elder Eyring: The temptation to delay repentance comes not only at the end of the world as suggested by those scriptures. Any choice to delay repentance gives him the chance to steal happiness from one of the spirit children of our Heavenly Father. (“Do Not Delay,” Ensign, Nov 1999, 33 My prayers are with you and good luck.
  7. You have got the definition right other than the part of being shunned by other members. It is the responsibility of church members to accept without judgment and love all people. This has been a consistent theme of council from church leaders to fellowship our brothers and sisters. According to Ned B. Roueché, "We all have a great responsibility … that includes searching out those that are not with us and extending to them our love and fellowship." (“‘Feed My Sheep’,” Liahona, Nov 2004, 30–31). Being disfellowshipped in the church simply means that one who has transgressed cannot take the sacrament, hold callings, or offer prayers at church until they have fully repented of their transgression.
  8. This is a great question for discussion. I have always dreamed of a large sum of money to spend. Who hasn't? Earlier in my life, I probably would have gone through a large sum of money like candy, spending it on everything from cars, clothes, to boats. But now that I am just a titch older and maybe a little wiser (although my wife may argue the second), I would pay off all of my debts, finish and update my food storage, buy emergency supplies, help others, and put the rest into savings or invest it in gold. Who knows what's around the corner with our economy the way it is?
  9. LOL! That picture is a classic. I saving that one.
  10. We are living in an unprecedented time in our world's history. The prophecies that were written thousands of years ago are being fulfilled right before our very eyes. In regards to the Revelations 16:3 prophecy, I believe that it is both a man-made prophecy and a natural occurring prophecy. The man-made prophecy is being fulfilled from polluting our fresh water and salt water supplies with toxic chemicals and other by-products of industry (i.e. the BP disaster). Next, there is a natural phenomena that occurs in salt water and can even invade fresh water sources. It is called Red Tide. This is when the naturally occurring algae called Karenia brevis accumulates in high concentrations and releases toxins which kill marine life. The mass accumulation of this algae also turns the water red "and they became blood." It is possible that this natural occurring phenomena may take place throughout world, making the fresh water supply undrinkable and those peoples that depend upon marine and fish as the their main diet will experience famine.
  11. No problem. It's always fun to meet new people and when you can incorporate humor into it. It makes it even more fun.
  12. Yeah, now that I think about it...I should have put dashes in between. For all those that are confused read it as Anti-Nephi-Lehis.
  13. Hello LDS.Net Forum, I am new to the forum, but just wanted to invite all of those that are interested to my new blog that I am writing dedicated to discussing and understanding the signs of the times. My goal for this blog is to provide an in-depth analysis of the signs of the times that are occurring right before our eyes. I also want to provide a commentary on the current events that are presently unfolding, revealing these signs to the world. In addition, I encourage comments whether you agree with me or not to not only stimulate further discussion on the topic but to provide inspiration for future blogs. Thank you,
  14. No. I've always been a believer and try not to be wicked. I just thought that it was a cool username.
