1. Why not? I know the Book of Mormon to be a true book and free of any blemishes or alterations by man. When I was little I enjoyed the many battles and strategy. I still like that element of the BoM today, but the Nephi's prayer is my favorite part. Can you quote for us Nephi's prayer? Now what can we learn from this prayer in regards to this temptation of yours?
2. Anthony, would you mind sharing with us your testimony of the Book of Mormon? What are your favorite sections of the book? Why are they your favorite? What impact has this had in your life?
3. Serg, you have discovered the first step into understanding the writings of Isaiah. As you are aware, the adversary uses the "All is well in Zion" mentality (2 Nephi 28:21, 24-25) to the maximum to mislead the members into disbelieving almost every prophecy of the Last Days. EVERY servant of the Lord must consistently inquire of the Lord for directions (1 Nephi 15:8, 2 Nephi 32:5, 8-9). There are no exceptions. If they do not, they tread on dangerous ground and their pride may lead to their fall ... even for Apostles like Thomas B Marsh. The keys to understanding all the words of Isaiah are the following: - both Nephi and Jacob explicitly told us to apply them to our day - Nephi stated that in the Last Days they would be understood, after they are fulfilled - Isaiah 28, D&C 112:23-26, 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4, 1 Peter 4:17, - The Armageddon period will be a scattering and gathering of ..... Israel, to purify us into becoming a Zion people and prepare us for His coming. A complete timeline is from Isaiah chapters 3 to 14. Consider Heber C Kimball's prophecy:
An army of Elders will be sent to the four quarters of the earth to search out the righteous and warn the wicked of what is coming. All kinds of religions will be started and miracles performed that will deceive the very elect if that were possible. Our sons and daughters must live pure lives so as to be prepared for what is coming. After a while the Gentiles will gather by the thousands to this place, and Salt Lake City will be classed among the wicked cities of the world. A spirit of speculation and extravagance will take possession of the Saints, and the results will be financial bondage. Persecution comes next and all true Latter-day Saints will be tested to the limit. Many will apostatize and others will be still not knowing what to do. Darkness will cover the earth and gross darkness the minds of the people. The judgments of God will be poured out on the wicked to the extent that our Elders from far and near will be called home, or in other words the gospel will be taken from the Gentiles and later on carried to the Jews. The western boundary of the State of Missouri will be swept so clean of its inhabitants that as President Young tells us, when you return to that place, there will not be left so much as a yellow dog to wag his tail. Before that day comes, however, the Saints will be put to a test that will try the integrity of the best of them. The pressure will become so great that the more righteous among them will cry unto the Lord day and night until deliverance comes. —Heber C. Kimball, First Counselor in the First Presidency, May 1868, in Deseret News, 23 May 1931; see also Conference Report, Oct. 1930, p. 58–59

4. I couldn't locate any other. Do you know where the older ones are?
5. I say you do it. I'm still new around here. :)
6. Looks good Jason! Now how to edit / delete our polls? lol
7. Looks like it's limited to only 20 questions ... very limited, so how about these 20?1- Roman Catholic 2- Eastern Orthodox 3- Other Apostolic 4- Protestant Southern Baptist 5- Protestant Baptist Other 6- Protestant Lutheran 7- Protestant Methodist 8- Protestant Pentacostal 9- Protestant Other 10- Non-denominational 11- The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS-SLC) 12- Community of Christ (formerly Reorganized LDS Church) 13- Other Restorationist 14- Judaism 15- Islam 16- Buddhism 17- Agnostic 18- Atheist 19- Spiritual 20- Other
8. What's even lamer is that one can't edit or delete the poll!
9. My poll bows to the superiority of your poll. lol
10. Communication. Yes there is a tendency for virgins to not sexually communicate, and this is dangerous in a marriage, but these are not mutually exclusive. To me the biggest sexual turn-off is if I knew my partner knowingly disobeyed what she knew was right, had the most intimate sexual experience with another man, and that she would always remember such experience(s) in her mind, body, and psyche. I believe the proper Biblical term is whore.
11. Thanks for the vocab! There are none so blind as those who refuse to see.
12. Thanks for the info pushka! Somehow I'm not surprised American citizens are never informed of the hazards by these 3G towers. I still remember when Americans laughed about the claims that cell phones caused cancer.
13. At what point does massive incompetence cross over into negligent homicide?Remember that ###### Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Paul Wolfowitz, and friends have been in the White House for decades. Have they, with experience, suddenly grown less competent? Have you forgotten Project for a New American Century? "The process of transformation is likely to be a long one, absent some catastrophic and catalyzing event—like a new Pearl Harbor.” If you know the Book of Mormon to be the Word of God, why do you doubt Moroni's warning in Ether chapter 8, which we know he was commanded of God to warn us in the Last Days?
14. LOL, because a generator heats up only one hot bath!Anyway here's the original references to this prophecy: ------------------------------ Joseph Smith, Jr., President of the Church, 2 July 1839, in an address to the Quorum of the Twelve, History of the Church, vol. 3, pp. 390–391 Wars are at hand; we must not delay; but are not required to sacrifice. We ought to have the building up of Zion as our greatest object. When wars come, we shall have to flee to Zion. The cry is to make haste. The last revelation says, Ye shall not have time to have gone over the earth, until these things come. It will come as did the cholera, war, fires, and earthquakes; one pestilence after another, until the Ancient of Days comes, then judgment will be given to the Saints. I saw men hunting the lives of their own sons, and brother murdering brother, women killing their own daughters, and daughters seeking the lives of their mothers. I saw armies arrayed against armies. I saw blood, desolation, fires. The Son of Man has said that the mother shall be against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother. These things are at our doors. They will follow the Saints of God from city to city. Satan will rage, and the spirit of the devil is now enraged. I know not how soon these things will take place; but with a view of them, shall I cry peace? No! I will lift up my voice and testify of them. How long you will have good crops, and the famine be kept off, I do not know; when the fig tree leaves, know then that the summer is nigh at hand. ------------------------------ John Taylor, President of the Church, 6 Oct. 1879, in Journal of Discourses, vol. 20, p. 319 Were we surprised when the last terrible war [the Civil War] took place here in the United States? No; good Latter-day Saints were not, for they had been told about it. Joseph Smith had told them where it would start, that it should be a terrible time of bloodshed and that it should start in South Carolina. But I tell you today the end is not yet. You will see worse things than that, for God will lay his hand upon this nation, and they will feel it more terribly than ever they have done before; there will be more bloodshed, more ruin, more devastation than never they have seen before. Write it down! You will see it come to pass; it is only just starting in. And would you feel to rejoice? No; I would feel sorry. I knew very well myself when this last war was commencing, and could have wept and did weep, over this nation; but there is yet to come a sound of war, trouble and distress, in which brother will be arrayed against brother, father against son, son against father, a scene of desolation and destruction that will permeate our land until it will be a vexation to hear the report thereof. ------------------------------ Orson Pratt of the Quorum of the Twelve, 9 March 1879, in Journal of Discourses, vol. 20, pp. 151–152 What about my own nation—the American nation? What can I say more than I have said in times that are past? They have had a great desolating war; a war between the North and the South in which many hundreds of thousands were destroyed. This war was foretold twenty-eight years before it took place; the very place where it should commence was marked out by the Prophet Joseph Smith, that young man of whom I have spoken. … That war that destroyed the lives of some fifteen or sixteen hundred thousand people was nothing, compared to that which will eventually devastate that country. The time is not very far distant in the future, when the Lord God will lay his hand heavily upon that nation. “How do you know this? inquires one.” I know from the revelations which God has given upon this subject. I read these revelations, when they were first given. I waited over twenty-eight years and saw their fulfillment to the very letter. Should I not, then, expect that the balance of them should be fulfilled? That same God who gave the revelations to his servant Joseph Smith in regard to these matters, will fulfil every jot and every tittle that has been spoken, concerning that nation. What then will be the condition of that people, when this great and terrible war shall come? It will be very different from the war between the North and the South. Do you wish me to describe it? I will do so. It will be a war of neighborhood against neighborhood, city against city, town against town, county against county, state against state, and they will go forth destroying and being destroyed and manufacturing will, in a great measure, cease, for a time, among the American nation. Why? Because in these terrible wars, they will not be privileged to manufacture, there will be too much bloodshed—too much mobocracy—too much going forth in bands and destroying and pillaging the land to suffer people to pursue any local vocation with any degree of safety. What will become of millions of the farmers upon that land? They will leave their farms and they will remain uncultivated, and they will flee before the ravaging armies from place to place; and thus will they go forth burning and pillaging the whole country; and that great and powerful nation, now consisting of some forty millions of people, will be wasted away, unless they repent. Now these are predictions you may record. You may let them sink down into your hearts. And if the Lord your God shall permit you to live, you will see my words fulfilled to the very letter. They are not my words, but the words of inspiration—the words of the everlasting God who has sent forth his servants with this message to warn the nations of the earth.
