  1. umm...what is wrong with Rush? (the band that is)
  2. Go for something mixed with your water to avoid hyponatremia if you going to be doing activity for a long time
  3. You don't have to be carrying anything to have a hard time breathing at that altitude. I had a hard time going up the 14ers in CO with only 20lbs in 2300ci daypack, and I'm in really good shape. I read a book a while back by one of the first to summit everest without oxygen, and he said the get an idea of breathing at the summit pinch you nose shut and shove a handful of cotton balls in your mouth.
  4. My 72 hr kit strangely resembles my backpacking gear...heh..
  5. I think 95% of what's on TV any more is absolute trash.:( If it wasn't for watching the Penguins play I probably wouldn't have a TV. Though I think one of my favorite bands (Daugherty) came from someone on AI?
  6. Friends and I hiked several 14'ers when I was with my dad, when he was stationed at Ft Carson CO (Colorado springs). It was also about this time I took up track in high school. During any kind of strenuous physical activity the altitude will get to you at first, depending on where are coming from. The thing that kinda sucks though, is if your on vacation by the time you become acclimated you will be going home. Just remember when your sucking air that Mt Everest (8800m) has been climbed many times without supplemental oxygen.
  7. Heat won't effect it as far as I know. The second time I was in Iraq they delivered and stored the bottled water we got on open trucks in similar tempatures. Also if you live fairly near a natural water source, you might want to look into a filter for longer term water use. I have a MSR Sweetwater I use for hiking/backpacking that works really well. Just be sure to get one with a ceramic element, not a paper one so you can just clean it instead of replacing it. I've had my MSR for about 3 years and have probably put hundred of gallons through it, all you have to do is take the element out and swish it around in the water and brush it off some and it works just like new.
  8. Since HAVA of 02 where do they have paper ballots? Except for when there is problems with the machines (like in southern Cali today), which is very rare.
  9. No..no.. You canuks just keep sending your best down here to Pittsburgh. You know...guys with names like Sidney and Mario:D:D
  10. Nice.. I've been there many times. My reserve unit does a lot of training at Ft Indiantown Gap just north of you, and I have relatives that live in Carlisle (think I spelled that right). I'm from Johnstown (you know the place that flooded three times), but I'm going to school in Pittsburgh right now. I transfered here to Carnegie-Mellon from Penn State when I changed my major.
  11. Its alex jones. He makes all sorts of movies that sound like what you saw.
  12. Was this guy in these videos by any chance?
  13. I've only had one encounter with an LEO (as we call them), and it almost got me shot.. I was visiting a relative in another part of the state and a state cop mistook my GPS for a gun. Strange thing though was I did have a handgun on me though. I always take my Glock 20 when I go in the woods. I have a CCP so after checking the serial on it and checking my CCP he let me go. It turns out the area I was in is about 2 miles from a state prison, and someone had just escaped from their the day before.
  14. As I expected more drivel about his ridiculous "economic stimulus package".
