  1. We are all imperfect beings, dealing with other imperfect beings, and we're doing it imperfectly. Realizing this, cut each other some slack, don't jump to conclusions, and don't assume. Communication is key.
  2. Having read plenty of "anti" literature and a lot of actual church history, there are plenty of trip hazards along the way. Too many to point out, faith is an evolving process, and mine has evolved alot. Look at the church as it is today. Does it fit your lifestyle and make you want to be a better person? Bring you closer to Christ? I don't believe like probably many do that the church is for everyone. That being said I believe that association with the church is a good thing and will help anyone that joins. Seems to me that the Spirit is saying something to you that it has said to me. Even with all of its flaws, and imperfection. We are all imperfect beings, dealing with other imperfect beings, and we're doing it imperfectly.
  3. I heard it said once; of all the women in the world he wants to be and stay with you. As for checking texts and all that, it's not a good thing in my mind, it breaks trust before trust is broken.
  4. I bit of background if you are still reading this thread Rachael. How old are you? I ask as if you are of 'adoption age', then you could be adopted by them and sealed. If nm ot, the great thing about the gospel is that we are never sealed to people that we do this want to be with for eternity; example, if sealed to parents, spouse, etc. and then divorced or some other circumstance, the original sealing won't mean that you're stuck with that person. I think in the eternities there will be a lot of 'shuffling' around and everyone will end up where and with who they want. During the millenia as I understand it, there will be a lot of work being done as well, making all of our mistakes right.
  5. Personally, I wear work boots all the time. I've had dress shoes before, but I just don't like wearing them. My work boots look really nice btw. I'm just not a suit coat wearing kind of guy, if there was a dress code, I would have to respectfully decline to follow it.

  7. Thanks notquiteperfect, I looked into the mission.net site after your post, idk why I didn't think of that before.
  8. "Do you prefer a beard over a mustache?" You'd have to be standing on your head. In this context the answer would be Nay Nay, as sheep cannot speak english. You can pick your nose and you can pick your friends, but can you pick your friends nose?
  9. How many of your wards have the boys show up on scout Sunday (7 Feb this year) in uniform? Our ward did occasionally, but the handbook says that it is discouraged? Once even passing sacrament I believe. Another time white shirt for sacrament then switching to uniform.
  10. Former scout master and current mb counselor here. Yes that sounds obviously wrong, and I would hope that it was said as a joke from him. That teaches the boys the opposite of what scouting is about. 3 of my 4 boys have gotten their eagle through a lot of hard work.
  11. Hi and welcome! I come from a Catholic upbringing and most of my family are still Catholic.
  12. Hi all, new to the site as well. I joined the church at 18, left on a mission at 20, been active ever since, looking forward to some interesting topics. I was hoping to find a way to find the missionaries that first contacted me in 1984. I don't remember their names though. Needle in a haystack, but the lds community can be a small world. This would have been 1984 in Simi Valley, CA. I think it was 4th or 5th ward at the time. I was taking the lessons at a friends house, the missionaries shared their testimony and I felt the Spirit but didn't join til 3 years later. Any suggestions?
