  1. So far so good. It didn't cost anything to download. It's got links to the different websites. Everything from the apologetics to weddings. Including the scriptures and News. It also has a search function embedded in the toolbar so you can search lds.org, the gospel library and 3 or 4 other lds sites. Pretty cool. Also as a side not, on my firefox I've downloaded an extension called freecorder. Very neat. I can stream byuradio through the toolbar. Great invention. Between this, all the websites and podcasting, I'm thoroughly convinced that this is a great time to be alive. I've got an ipod full of church music, and church related podcasts. Simply amazing.
  2. Maybe I'm the only one () who has trouble keeping the spirit during the week, while working or running errands. Maybe not. I thought I'd list things I do to keep a positive attitude in general. I'm also looking for other ideas so that my 'idle hands' won't be a problem . 1) I have an ipod that I've downloaded music and talks onto. I constantly have this playing in my ear, regardless of what I'm doing. Since my job is pretty flexible it isn't a problem. I like listening to podcasts most of all. 2) I try to meditate once a day to help focus. My list use to include things like frequent prayer, and carrying seminary stuff around for memorizing. But I'm afraid that as I get older my memory is faulty. Not a big list, so you can tell I have a lot of problems :) ----- As an after thought, since I mentioned that I love podcasts, I'll include a couple suggestions to good podcasts. New BYU Speeches -speeches.byu.edu/rss/podcast2.xml BYU Rcent Talks byub.org/BYU_Devotionals.rss LDS Voices -feeds.feedburner.com/ldsvoices LDS Voices: Words of the Prophets -www.ldsvoices.com/podcast-prophets.php Whit's Favorite LDS talks. -www.mormoncast.com/podcast/whit.rss Classic Speeches speeches.byu.edu/rss/podcast1.xml You can also search the iTunes store (if you use iTunes) for the Book of Mormon Roundtable Discussions, as well as the PoGP, D&C, NT and OT roundtable discussions. They work well when your studying each particular book of scripture. Also some of you might know who Bob Lonsberry is. He's a host on one of the SLC radio stations. On sunday he hosts a show called 'Lonsberry Weekend' or something to that effect. His show is centerd on LDS beliefs. He's quite a guy. He's like one part Bishop, One part Big Brother and One part Gomer Pyle USMC. -www.knrs.com/podcast/Bob_Lonsberry.xml I hope some of my suggestions help people, and I look forward to reading others' replies.
  3. Hi, Nice idea, thanks. Undoubtedly this is a very out of the way part of the board. Hopefully people will realize it's importance.
  4. I guess the same could be done with subjects instead... Faith, Repentance, etc ...
  5. I've never really marked them before, on occasion I color a verse that meant something to me. I want to know how you mark your scriptures. Thanks
  6. Hi Hocobo! I'm new to this board also! I've been to conference several times. I see the protestors, and I see the different reactions to their opinions. I've seen sister missionaries singing right in front of the protestors. I've seen late teens or twenty-something guys get agitated and start yelling and threatening to beat them up. I've seen conference goers try to debate, and yet they always fail miserably. Why? Because you can never sway an opinion if someone truly believes in what they preach (some members of the church are prime examples: Apostles) I personally believe that the best way to deal with them is to deal with the 'problem' would be to ignore them. When no one reacts to their messages (yes a burnt fetus may be quite offensive) then their objective begins to fail. I think if they where completely ignored they would leave. But what you have now is over-zealous saints reacting to their passion and embarrassing themselves. I also think it sets a dangerous precedent by preventing the protestors from doing just that. You forget the term 'free agency'? All persons are free to believe whom and what they will. They are also (in America) free to voice that opinion. Though hurtful, the words of the protestors are never fatal. So think about that. If you were in a reverse position and felt strongly about a topic you'd want other people to hear it, wouldn't you? Think of them as missionaries, with an unusual method of spreading their 'gospel'. Hope my opinion helps someone.
